What is Starfish Beach in Phu Quoc?
Starfish Beach is the shallow bay at Rach Vem, a fishing village on the north coast of Phu Quoc, about 25 km from Duong Dong. Red starfish lie on pale sand in knee-deep water, and a short boat ride reaches the clearest sandbar. With a local guide you get more than the photo: how the village lives from the sea, and how to see the starfish without harming them.

Red starfish in clear water
Cushion starfish, often as wide as a hand, resting on sand in water you can stand in. They are most plentiful and easiest to see from November to April.
A village on stilts and rafts
Rach Vem is a working fishing village. Its raft houses keep live seafood in nets below the floor and cook it to order over the water.
Ham Rong Cape, by boat
About ten minutes along the coast by boat: white sand, scattered rocks and clear water with forest behind, and far fewer people than the village beach.

Questions people ask before booking
Is Starfish Beach worth visiting?
Yes, if you time it well. From November to April the north coast is calm and clear and the starfish are easy to see; from May to October waves can cloud the water and push them further out. Mornings are best, before the midday tour groups arrive. It is a working fishing village, not a resort beach, so expect simple raft houses rather than sunbeds.
How far is Starfish Beach from Duong Dong and the south of the island?
About 25 km north of Duong Dong, or 40 to 50 minutes by car on a road that runs through the forest of the national park. From hotels around An Thoi and Sunset Town allow about an hour and a half each way.
What exactly is included in the price?
Private car with driver, a licensed local guide who speaks fluent English, hotel pickup and drop-off anywhere in central and north Phu Quoc, a private boat to the starfish sandbar, snorkel gear, and a seafood lunch with drinks on every tour. The only things not included are personal shopping and optional tips.
Can I cancel or reschedule?
Yes — free cancellation up to 3 days before departure, and free rescheduling subject to availability. Within 3 days of departure, 30% of the tour price is charged because the car and guide are already committed.
Can the tour be tailored for children, older parents or our own interests?
Yes — every itinerary can be adjusted. Tell us who is travelling and what you enjoy, and we will change the stops and the pace to suit. The sandbar is reached in a small wooden boat; if climbing in and out is hard for anyone, your guide keeps the group in the calm shallows by the village instead.
How do I pay, and when?
Two ways: pay the full price online by card, or pay a 30% deposit online and the rest in cash on the day of the tour, in US dollars or Vietnamese dong. We can also send a secure payment link on WhatsApp. The booking is confirmed once the online payment goes through, and your pickup time and guide’s name arrive in writing.
How far ahead should I book?
A few days is comfortable in the busy months from November to April; at quieter times next-day requests often work. Message us and we will tell you honestly what is still open.
